Mi Seiko Bear

(3/10/88-7/13/01) Bloat

(Seiko at 10 weeks old)

Seiko was my very first Akita. She joined my family as a puppy in 1988. Seiko has been the most influential dog in my life. She is the reason that I got involved with dogs, Dog clubs and Dog shows. Seiko graduated from obedience class. She had my first litter of puppies too. Because of her I joined the Lone Star Akita Club of Houston, which I have been a member of and often a committee chairperson since 1989 years. I have made many friends through the club as well. We had a recent specialty show in February-check out the link to the club site above.

Seiko will always hold a special place in my heart.  She helped me through many difficult times in my life and helped me celebrate the joyous ones too. She was a very gentle soul.  She loved everyone, people, kids, cats, other dogs and the Shibas too.  I  know she is at the Rainbow bridge giving all the kiddos licks.

Seiko and Bill

Seiko, me and Ceasar 1995

( this is old info but I just couldn't bring myself to delete it just yet) Seiko is spayed now and living a life idle contemplation. Still as sweet as ever, Seiko is now totally blind, but otherwise is healthy. She gets around the house and yard just fine as long as no one moves any furniture. She has it all mapped out in her mind. She still trots through the yard to bark if strangers walk past the fence. Caesar and Judy will often kind of herd her if she is going the wrong direction and help her along the way. It is great to watch them together all my furbabies.

Akitas are not for everyone, but if you have researched the breed and are considering adding an Akita to your family, please consider a rescue dog. For more information on Akita rescues which are currently available check out the information on the Lone Star Akita Club Rescue page under available Akita orphans or e-mail me.

If you are looking or a reputable breeder, check the links page or e-mail me and I'll be happy to assist.
